Karina Utomo ![]() ![]() ![]() When I was a little girl, my favourite thing to draw after houses and hills were girls. I spent most of my childhood drawing girls in dresses and this is still continuing until today. This interest later developed into wannabe 'fashion design', yes I couldn't sew... but hey.. there are people out there who I could pay to do it for me. When I got to college, I decided to take Fashion Design... but it only lasted a mere one short term before I accepted that what I needed to take was a sewing class. I wore my very dull wool skirt out to Civic (Canberra, Aus) one day, the one I made in Fashion Design- with the uneven zip and waist band and the two holes from that damn over locker that ate my skirt. I wore it with a shirt I made- a red bonds shirt- printed on it three girls brutally torchering a boy (inspired by my previous boy friend). And guess what? this nice, hip lady who owned a little boutique called "FELT" said that the material of my skirt was cool. I was so flattered. After telling her I made the skirt and the shirt I was wearing, she offered me if I was interested in selling some of my stuff in the store. Wow! I was only sixteen at the time... and someone wants to sell the clothes I was wearing! Now I am seventeen... and "Sickinmilk" is the name I have decided to call the label. Other names i thought of were UNphuckable, Najiz*, Skinny Underneath and Feral Gruss. Sickinmilk Clothing is tailored in Indonesia. And I still can't sew- but I am going to. |
